The Enormous Crocodile - Roald Dahl Blog Hop

It's Roald Dahl's Day (ok well tomorrow). BUT....Today I get to be part of a great blog hop to celebrate it. I love being in the blog hops to see what everyone comes up with. Can't wait to see them all.

I do remember reading Roald Dahl's  books as a child and the wonder of them making me smile and wanting to travel to the worlds I was reading about.  James and the Giant Peach was my absolute favorite, I kind of remember when they made the movie, being disappointed because it wasn't what I had imagined. I like that about books we can all read the same thing and all have slightly different ideas about what it "looks" like.  I can't wait till G wants and is able to read them by himself so he can share in my love.  I have read him a couple of stories and his favorite is The Enormous Crocodile.

For G's lunch today he gave me the task of coming up with the Enormous Crocodile.  I know I am not the best artist, but he seems to like what I can do, so I am giving it a shot.  Here is what I came up with. One of G's favorite parts is when the enormous crocodile pretends he is a tree, and then Humpy-Rumpy Hippopotamus rams into him.

The Enormous crocodile is made from a dinosaur cookie cutter that I kind of flattened to look more like the croc, its made from bread.  The leaves are cheddar cheese, and the coconuts are slices from a cheese stick.  Turkey is the ground.  On the side of my Easy Lunch box, I have more cheese stick and strawberries.  Carrots and celery with a bread (heel) Hippo (yes I think it a elephant, but G wont mind).

I hope he likes it!  It is also story book day at school today and I did try to get him to dress up like the Enormous Crocodile, but he said no.... He decided to be Pigeon from Mo Willems, too cute... but that is a whole other blog entry... ha... back on task.

The Truth about Bats

G and I have been reading the Magic School Bus story The Truth about Bats the past few night.  G loves bats for some reason, must have to do with Batman.  So today I thought he might like to have a bat for lunch.

Same old same old food choices, but he likes it so I don't like to mix it up too much.

Bread bat (he didn't want a sandwich today)  over a cookie (moon)  BAT spelled out in cheese, with the extra cheese in a cup with a bug drawn on it (because Bats eat Bugs)
Turkey, strawberries and carrots, complete the lunch box.  Yogurt and juice on the side.

Pizza Monster

As I said on Friday, pizza has been a big request and yes it seems like we always have it in my fridge.  We really don't eat that much pizza for dinner I promise

So what to do with yet another pizza request.... turn it into a monster, with a monster friend.

Monster pizza, monster cheese and cookie, carrots from G's garden, strawberries.

Pizza Frog

Hubby brought home pizza last night late, so I had leftovers for G this morning :)

He told me he wanted some pizza in his lunch, so I made a frog.

Pizza frog, with a cheddar frog over it, frog has a cheese tongue and some cheese flies for catching.
Pepperoni, carrots, strawberries and a cookie hiding under the pepperoni.

Pasta Lunch

G wanted to have his leftover Pasta for lunch today... who am I to argue, makes my life a bit easier.  Normally I would just put it in his normal box and let him eat it cold, he never complains, but I thought I would use his star wars thermos to surprise him.

Pasta with sauce, in thermos.  In box, french bread, gummies, strawberries, cheese flowers, and carrots.

Fishing off a boat

One of the highlights for G this weekend is he got to fish off a boat (or as he like to call it a yacht, it really isn't that big)

So I tried to recreate it for his lunch today.....

cheese boat, fish and fishing line, extra cheese in cup.... bread waves.  Turkey in the cup (with the extra cheese) and a cookie under it.  Carrots and strawberries (surprise) in the other section of the Easy Lunch Box.  On the side he requested a go-gurt. Hope he can open it on his own.
